Dear friends!

My hope for the future is that our children’s lives will be happy, fulfilling and interesting.

At Discovery Academy our staff and teachers do everything in our power to realize that dream.

We live in one of the most interesting, fast-paced and challenging periods in human history.

It was estimated that a week’s worth of the New York Times contains more information than a person was likely receive in a lifetime in the 18th century. The US department of Labor estimates that today’s learners will have had 10 to 14 jobs by their 38th birthday. The top 10 in-demand jobs in 2010 did not exist in 2004. We have the task of preparing students today for jobs that don’t exist yet.

What will determine our children’s future success is education, the capacity and willingness to learn, leadership, and ability to work well with others. Our world is changing, and the education and skills necessary to prosper must change as well!

Our children also face many challenges that did not affect children as much ten or twenty years ago.

Social networks, pervasive media and advertisements, 24/7 Internet access, cyber-bullying – these are many of the issues that today’s students have to deal with on top of the schoolwork, extracurricular activities, part-time jobs, and the pressures of growing up. It is up to both parents and educators to help guide our children through these challenges and succeed. Our staff and teachers do not just teach the curriculum, they serve as role-models and help students develop the life skills they need.

We will give our students in-depth skills in a broad variety of subjects, develop their social and life skills, and help them develop the strength of mind and character to succeed in life.

Welcome to Discovery Academy!

Sincerely,
